ANSYS 3D HFSS Component Models

Amphenol RF offers ANSYS HFSS 3D component models of printed circuit board connectors for download.

These self-contained 3D models allow designers and engineers to simulate the performance of a PCB connector on their PCBa product within a specific design prior to placing an order. By eliminating the need for physical prototypes, therefore reducing time required to assemble and test physical models,  the entire design process is streamlined.

With countless PCB materials and stackups available, simulating and optimizing the launch was previously performed exclusively by Amphenol RF Engineers. In many cases a non-disclosure agreement with NRE charges was required. However, with the availability of HFSS 3D component models, the need for these restrictions on certain products have now been eliminated. Amphenol RF connectors can now be conveniently inserted into any design and tested under specific constraints within the system PCB. This process mimics a physical printed circuit board's launch geometry. This allows designers and engineers to optimize the a PCB to minimize return loss. This is especially important as frequencies increase. The PCB launch geometries (antipads, trace widths and gaps) must be well matched to the connector launch to minimize reflections at the launch.

ANSYS HFSS 3D models are available for a number of PCB connector configurations including SMA High Frequency End Launch Connectors. These models are located under the download section and require registration.  If there is a specific HFSS 3D model you are interested in, please contact Amphenol RF directly. It is important to note that these 3D component models are only compatible with ANSYS EM R17 and later. The 3D model is shareable and password protected through ANSYS HFSS software.
