Amphenol Floating Interface (AFI)
The AFI interface utilizes a proprietary design that provides the industry’s leading “float” to compensate for axial and radial misalignment due to packaging tolerances. This float results in a maximum misalignment allowed by the system of ±0.015” (±0.38 mm) radial and ±0.020” (±0.50 mm) axial. The shrouded design and floating bullet of the AFI allows mating to occur when there is misalignment of the radial and axial planes between connectors.

SMPs are often used in miniaturized high frequency coaxial modules and offer RF performance from DC to 40GHz. The interface is ideal for printed circuit board and hi-density modular packaging applications. The interface series utilizes a male connector on each of the PC boards and a female-to-female adapter mounted in between to complete the connection.
The female adapter is often called a bullet and is necessary to provide a flexible link allowing for ±0.020” (±0.50 mm) of radial float and ±0.010” (±0.25 mm) of axial float. One male connector is typically specified as a snap-on interface and the other as a push-on, ensuring that the bullet adapter remains fixed in the same male connector if the PC boards are separated. The bullets are available in multiple lengths to allow for different board spacing.
PSMPs are the perfect solution for board-to-board applications requiring high power. With a minimum board spacing of 12.6 mm, the three-piece design allows maximum flexibility for high-density board spacing, and is an ideal solution for blindmate situations.
PSMP connectors are the best combination of SMPs and SMAs. They are compact, board-to-board designs capable of high-performance and high-frequency. The PSMP has the exact same PCB footprint as the SMP, allowing for easy conversion of applications for higher power handling.
