Should I include leading zeros when ordering Amphenol RF part numbers?

ARF historically uses a P/N configuration which begins with 3 digits followed by a dash, for example “901-“, which defines the product category. “901” itself signifies the “SMA” product line.

Some of these prefixes contain only 1 or 2 whole numbers. Examples of this include “82-“ for “Type N”, or “95” for “Cable Assemblies” and all product drawings for these series are labeled as such. However, ARF has a restriction inherent in its ERP system that requires all three digits to be populated. The ERP P/N is therefore displayed as 3 digits and a zero is used as the preceding character. Because of this, all ERP-generated documents, such as quotations, invoices, etc., will show a preceding zero, while all product drawings will not show this zero. The same applies for items with three leading zeros. An example of this is part number 000-34025.  Product drawings will show “34025” as the item number and all ERP-generated documents will show “000-34025” as the item number.

Within ARF, the prefixes with and without a preceding zero are equivalent. For example, “095-“ is equivalent to “95-“ for all intents and purposes. ARF requests its customers, vendors and partners to accept this difference as equivalent.
