CNC Machining
CNC machining is essential in manufacturing RF interconnects by precisely fabricating critical components such as connector bodies, center contacts, insulators and dielectric supports. Amphenol RF has these machining capabilities globally.
Stamping and Forming
In the RF interconnect industry, stamping and forming refer to high-volume manufacturing processes used to produce metal components, especially center contacts, grounding tabs and spring elements found in RF connectors and cable assemblies. These processes are commonly used when precision is still needed but CNC machining would not be time or cost-efficient for mass production.
Injection Molding and Insert Molding
In the RF interconnect industry, injection molding and insert molding are used to produce dielectric insulators, connector housings, strain reliefs and overmolded assemblies. These processes are critical for ensuring mechanical integrity, electrical insulation and environmental sealing in RF connectors and cable assemblies.
Plating and Surface Finishing
Plating and surface finishing are critical steps in the manufacturing of RF interconnects, as they directly impact the electrical performance, corrosion resistance, mechanical durability and mating reliability of RF connectors and cable assemblies. These processes are applied to metal components such as connector bodies, center contacts and interface surfaces.
Automated Assembly
Automated assembly is widely used in the RF interconnect industry to improve speed, precision, repeatability and cost-efficiency when producing high volumes of RF connectors, adapters and cable assemblies. It enables manufacturers to maintain tight tolerances and consistent performance across thousands or even millions of units, especially critical in applications like aerospace, automotive, telecommunications and 5G wireless infrastructure.
Tooling Development
Tooling development is a foundational part of RF interconnect manufacturing, as it enables the precise, repeatable production of components such as connector bodies, center contacts, dielectric inserts and over-molded assemblies. Proper tooling ensures that tight tolerances, impedance control and mechanical reliability are consistently achieved, which is critical in high-frequency RF applications where even minor deviations can degrade signal performance.
