HD-AFI Connectors
Board-to-board 75 Ω RF connectors with industry-leading misalignment tolerance and blind‑mate ease
Overview
Amphenol RF’s HD‑AFI connectors are engineered for robust board-to-board RF interconnects in broadband and wireless systems. Featuring generous axial/radial “float” to absorb misalignment and a closed-entry crash-proof mating design, they deliver stable signal integrity and easy assembly—even in high-density multi-port setups. Rated for up to 18 GHz, these connectors bridge performance with practicality.
The HD‑AFI interface supports up to 1.32 mm radial and 2 mm axial misalignment, ensuring reliable engagement across a wide assembly variation. Whether deployed in consumer electronics, medical devices, or broadcast modules, HD‑AFI connectors bring modular convenience without compromising high-speed RF performance.
Features and Benefits
- High-float blind-mate interface absorbs axial (±2 mm) and radial (±1.32 mm) tolerances for flexible assembly
- Closed-entry, crash-proof design protects sensitive contacts during mating
- Extended frequency performance: up to 18 GHz for bandwidth-intensive applications
- Stable RF performance across full float range with low VSWR and insertion loss
- Versatile board-to-board configurations: parallel, co-planar, right-angle, customizable stack heights
Key Technical Details
- Impedance: 75 Ω nominal, matching typical broadband systems
- Frequency Range: Standard DC–3 GHz; extended designs support up to 12 GHz, and some to 18 GHz
- Voltage Rating: 170 VRMS continuous; ≥500 VRMS dielectric withstand
- Coupling Mechanism: Push-on blind-mate design with secure engagement forces (~6 N engage, ~1 N disengage)
- Environmental & Mechanical: Vibration, shock, thermal cycling, and moisture tests per EIA standards; ≥200 mating cycles
Applications
- HD/SD video modules and broadcast equipment
- Cable modems and set-top boxes in broadband infrastructure
