RP-Triax Connectors

Maximum shielding performance in harsh environments with nuclear-grade options

Overview

Amphenol RF’s RP-Triax connectors are engineered for extreme applications where extra shielding, high voltage capability and rugged reliability are essential. The reverse-polarity (“RP”) configuration prevents accidental mating with standard Triax connectors, ensuring RF safety and compliance.

Designed for high-stakes environments—from nuclear chambers to industrial automation—these connectors deliver outstanding EMI/RFI protection, ease of assembly with clamp or solder methods and robust mechanical resilience up to 500 mating cycles.

Features and Benefits
  • Enhanced RF isolation: RP design prevents mismating with standard Triax, offering superior shielding in sensitive systems
  • High-voltage capability: Up to 5 kV peak with PTFE insulators—suitable for high-temperature and nuclear-rated use
  • Rugged mechanical construction: Precision-machined brass with clamp or solder assembly, rated ≥ 500 mating cycles
  • Versatile interfaces: Available in 7/8‑20 and 11/16‑24 threaded Triax C, BNC and TNC coupling styles
  • Custom insulator options: Support specialty materials, including nuclear-grade Rexolite
Key Technical Details
  • Impedance: Non-constant—compatible with 50, 75, or 93 Ω triax cables
  • Voltage rating: Up to 5 kV peak (PTFE)
  • Assembly: Clamp or solder; no special crimp tools needed
  • Coupling types: Threaded Triax C, BNC, TNC, reverse‑polarity
  • Mating reliability: ≥ 500 cycles
Applications
  • Nuclear instrumentation and reactor diagnostics
  • High-shielding medical and scientific equipment
