HD-BNC Terminators

High-density bayonet-style terminations delivering compact, true 50 Ω/75 Ω performance for modern broadcast and RF networks

Overview

At Amphenol RF, our HD-BNC Terminator product line offers engineers and system integrators a refined termination solution built around the high-density HD-BNC™ interface. Designed to match the footprint and mechanical form-factor of our HD-BNC connector series—which supports both 50 Ω and 75 Ω impedance and features a push-and-turn positive-lock interface—these terminators facilitate seamless system adoption and simplified inventory management.

Whether deployed in ultra-high-definition broadcast systems, high-density instrumentation panels or RF signal distribution networks, HD-BNC Terminators from Amphenol RF enable proper impedance matching, port isolation and minimal signal reflection—all within a significantly reduced footprint compared to legacy BNC terminations.

Features and Benefits
  • Compact HD-BNC interface delivers up to four-times the connector density of standard BNC while maintaining full electrical performance.
  • Available in 50 Ω and 75 Ω versions, enabling termination options for RF systems (50 Ω) and broadcast/video networks (75 Ω).
  • Built-in positive-lock push-and-turn coupling ensures reliable mechanical engagement and repeatable electrical performance in dense panel or rack environments.
  • Seamless compatibility with existing HD-BNC cable assemblies and broadcast infrastructure, reducing installation time and risk of mismatch.
  • Engineered to support high-performance video (including 12G-SDI / UHD) systems via the 75 Ω HD-BNC variants.
Key Technical Details
  • Impedance: Standard 50 Ω and dedicated 75 Ω versions align with system requirements and cable infrastructure.
  • Frequency range: The HD-BNC connector family supports up to DC–6 GHz (for both 50 Ω and 75 Ω general designs) and up to 12 GHz for 12G-SDI 75 Ω variants. Terminator performance will depend on cable, configuration and assembly.
  • Mating cycles: Typical HD-BNC mechanical specification alike is rated for a minimum of 500 matings. Terminator mating life may vary accordingly.
  • Temperature range: The HD-BNC series supports approximately –65 °C to +165 °C operational temperature range. Actual terminator part ratings depend on termination style and configuration.
  • Special features: High-density connector footprint, positive-lock mechanism, true 50 Ω/75 Ω performance, support for UHD video. Note that standard HD-BNC terminators from Amphenol RF are not hermetic sealed and, unless explicitly specified, do not carry IP67 environmental rating.
Applications
  • Broadcast production environments and patch-panels requiring high-density terminations, particularly for 75 Ω HD-BNC systems carrying UHD/12G-SDI signals.
  • Instrumentation, test & measurement racks where high-channel-count terminations are needed in constrained space and reliability is paramount.
  • RF distribution and signal-routing systems where compact termination of unused ports is required to maintain impedance matching and minimize signal reflections.
  • Board-mounted or cable-mounted assemblies using HD-BNC connectors where inventory standardization and form-factor efficiency are desired.
  • Professional AV systems, studio infrastructure and media-technology deployments where HD-BNC serves as the mechanical/electrical standard.
