FAQ
Back to All FAQsHow do I minimize VSWR in my design?
VSWR (Voltage Standing Wave Ratio) is a critical metric that indicates how well RF energy is transmitted through a system without reflections. To minimize VSWR, it’s important to maintain a consistent impedance throughout the signal path, from the connector through the cable and into the device. Even small impedance mismatches can create reflections, leading to signal loss and distortion.
Using high-quality connectors from Amphenol RF, properly terminated to the correct cable type, significantly reduces the risk of mismatches. Careful PCB layout practices, such as controlled-impedance traces and proper grounding, are also essential.
