FAQ
Back to All FAQsWhat is the maximum power rating of your connectors?
The power handling capability of an RF connector depends on factors such as connector size, dielectric spacing, operating frequency and ambient temperature. Larger connectors such as N-Type can typically handle higher power than smaller connectors like SMA or MCX. At higher frequencies, the effective power handling decreases due to increased dielectric loss and heating.
Amphenol RF provides detailed power rating charts in our datasheets, which account for frequency and duty cycle. Engineers should always consult these guidelines to ensure that connectors are not operated beyond their safe limits, particularly in high-power transmission systems.
