History

Throughout its history, Amphenol RF has been at the forefront of RF connector innovation, developing industry-standard connectors such as the BNC and TNC, and continually expanding its product lines to meet the evolving needs of various industries.

Company Formation

1932

The American Phenolic corporation was founded by Arthur Schmitt in Chicago, Illinois. Arthur J. Schmitt founded the American Phenolic Corporation in Chicago, Illinois, focusing on molded radio sockets using phenolic materials.

1942

The company was renamed Amphenol Electronics Corporation, reflecting its expanded focus on electronic components.

1951

Amphenol engineers, including Paul Neill and Carl Concelman, developed the BNC (Bayonet Neill- Concelman) connector, which became a standard in RF applications.

1957

Amphenol Electronics Corporation listed on the New York Stock Exchange, marking its transition to a publicly traded company.

1967

Amphenol merged with Bunker-Ramo Corporation, expanding its technological capabilities and market reach.

1981

Allied Corporation acquired Bunker-Ramo, including the Amphenol division, integrating it into a larger conglomerate.

Continued Growth

1984

Nogales Factory Opened, marking our first global expansion effort. The opening of our Nogales, Mexico factory laid the foundation for future growth in manufacturing capabilities.

1987

LPL Investment acquired Amphenol, a pivotal moment that strengthened the company’s position in the global market.

1991

Amphenol is listed on the New York Stock Exchange. With our public listing, Amphenol gained access to increased capital to drive innovation and expand our portfolio.

1998

Acquisition of Kai Jack (Taiwan). The acquisition of Kai Jack broadened Amphenol’s presence in Asia, enhancing manufacturing and design capabilities to better serve our customers globally.

2001

Acquisition of Connex Connector Corp. This acquisition brought world-class RF solutions into the fold, solidifying Amphenol RF’s position as a leading interconnect supplier.

2015

Amphenol Connex and Amphenol RF merged, combining the expertise of both companies allowed for a unified approach to providing cutting-edge RF interconnect products.

2024

Vietnam Factory Opening. The new Vietnam factory demonstrates Amphenol RF’s commitment to global manufacturing and innovation to better serve our customers worldwide.
