RF Adapters

RF Adapters

Amphenol RF offers a full range of coaxial adapters designed for radio frequency applications. RF adapters feature all industry standard interfaces in between-series and in-series configurations to support a wide assortment of applications.

RF adapters are commonly used to change gender or as connector savers in precision test and measurement applications. They are also used to transfer signals between connector interfaces. Coaxial adapters are available in 50 ohm and 75 ohm designs. Standard polarity and reverse polarity Jack to Jack, Plug to Jack and Plug to Plug adapters are available across most rf interfaces. The polarity of an interface can be changed by changing the center contact from male to female or female to male depending on the adapter interface.

Selecting an RF Coaxial Adapter

When selecting an RF coaxial adapter, there might be specific characteristics you may want to consider:

Configuration

In-series adapters feature the same interface type on both sides of the adapter and are often used as connector savers or to change the gender of the interface. Between-series adapters feature a different interface on each side of the adapter allowing different connector types to be connected. Tee adapters allow three RF interfaces to be connected. They are engineered using any combination of female or male gender.

Coax adapters can feature a variety of panel mounting options including bulkhead mounted adapters, sometimes referred to as a feed through adapter, since the adapter is fed through a panel and secured with a jam nut. 2-hole flange and 4-hole flange mount adapters can be mounted to an enclosure with screws and offer easy maintenance if damaged. Adapters with no mounting features, sometimes referred to as barrel adapters, are also available.

Application

High performance RF adapters such as precision test adapters, low PIM adapters, IP67 waterproof adapters and 12G broadcast video adapters are ideal for application specific requirements. Tee Adapters (adapters shaped like a ‘T’) are also available and are used to combine or split an RF signal.
